Children's Learning Center Main Center has earned a STAR LEVEL 3 AWARD from the Illinois Quality Counts: Quality Rating System, in recognition of this program's effort in going beyond the minimum state licensing requirements to help children receive an enhanced learning and care experience.
Children’s Learning Center enrolls children from six weeks to twelve years of age. CLC is licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services to serve 146 children at the day care center ("Main Center") at 905 South Fourth Street, and a total of 66 school-age children in two DeKalb elementary schools.
CLC is open Monday through Friday from 6:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 905 South Fourth Street. The before school program at Littlejohn School operates on school days from 6:45 a.m. to school time; the after school programs at Lincoln and Littlejohn Schools are open on regular school days from dismissal to 5:30 p.m. See the calendar page for school holidays and days the Center is closed.
Children's Learning Center maintains an open-door policy. No appointment is required to visit CLC. Parents are always welcome in our classrooms.
An independent not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization governed by a Board of Directors, Children's Learning Center welcomes donations of funds and materials. CLC is unique because the purpose of the program as stated in its bylaws is to serve primarily children from low-income families. Currently, about 65% of enrolled children are eligible for State subsidies for child care. All CLC programs are licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Children's Learning Center is a Kishwaukee United Way partner agency and a member program of Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C), serving the DeKalb area since 1968.
Mission Statement: Children's Learning Center provides high quality, comprehensive child care in a safe and nurturing environment for DeKalb area families. The experienced staff provide age-appropriate curriculum through play-based learning while promoting the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of every child.
BAD WEATHER
In bad weather please listen to WLBK (1360 AM), WNIJ (89.5 FM), or WDKB (94.9 FM) to find out whether CLC will be open. In most cases an announcement will be on the radio by 6:00 a.m. Occasionally we are forced to close during the day; in this case we will notify parents.
When DeKalb Schools are closed, CLC's Lincoln and Littlejohn programs will not operate, although the day care center may remain open. |
